Description:
We are currently looking for an experienced Systems Support Engineer. This role will report to the IT Manager. In this role you will be responsible for:
- Provide Tier 2/3 Help Desk support to engineering and admin staff
- Installation and support of Enterprise network comprising Linux and Windows servers, and desktops
- Backup system
- Hardware specification and configuration
- Operating System configuration, deployment, maintenance and support
- Supporting TCP/IP Networks.
Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years experience working in an Enterprise Linux networking environment, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
- Strong working knowledge of Shell scripting, Perl, and related Linux / Unix programming tools
- A good working knowledge of Linux Enterprise Networks, and interoperability with Windows networking and Active Directory
- Experience in Microsoft Services for Unix (SFU) is a distinct advantage
- Must have a strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
- Experience in Enterprise backup management systems, preferably EMC/Legato
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, with relevant experience in user and group administration, and associated user account management
- Experience supporting users in a Linux and Windows networking environment
- Red Hat certification desirable
- Dell hardware is preferable
- Experience in data storage systems, ideally Dell and Network Appliance
- Experience working with Windows Server 2003, Exchange server 2003, Windows XP, and having exposure to Windows Desktop Applications, e.g. MS Office
- Ideally have worked in an engineering environment, but not essential
- Experience in Windows Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame is beneficial.
The ideal candidate must be a willing team player in a dynamic engineering IT environment.
Candidates must be authorized to work in Ireland.
