Description:

We are currently looking for an experienced Systems Support Engineer.  This role will report to the IT Manager.  In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Provide Tier 2/3 Help Desk support to engineering and admin staff
  • Installation and support of Enterprise network comprising Linux and Windows servers, and desktops
  • Backup system
  • Hardware specification and configuration
  • Operating System configuration, deployment, maintenance and support
  • Supporting TCP/IP Networks.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 7 years experience working in an Enterprise Linux networking environment, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Shell scripting, Perl, and related Linux / Unix programming tools
  • A good working knowledge of Linux Enterprise Networks, and interoperability with Windows networking and Active Directory
  • Experience in Microsoft Services for Unix (SFU) is a distinct advantage
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience in Enterprise backup management systems, preferably EMC/Legato
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, with relevant experience in user and group administration, and associated user account management
  • Experience supporting users in a Linux and Windows networking environment
  • Red Hat certification desirable
  • Dell hardware is preferable
  • Experience in data storage systems, ideally Dell and Network Appliance
  • Experience working with Windows Server 2003, Exchange server 2003, Windows XP, and having exposure to Windows Desktop Applications, e.g. MS Office
  • Ideally have worked in an engineering environment, but not essential
  • Experience in Windows Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame is beneficial.

The ideal candidate must be a willing team player in a dynamic engineering IT environment.

Candidates must be authorized to work in Ireland.
