Cathal Byrne is S3 Group's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Company Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment as CFO in 1999, Byrne served as Group Financial Controller where he controlled S3 Group's financial and fiscal functions setting the accounting policies and directing the company's team of financial managers. 

Cathal joined S3 Group in 1989 and has a breadth of experience in all aspects of finance, management, accounting and reporting associated with a high-end Connected Consumer Technology company. Byrne drives the global strategic financial direction for S3 Group as well as playing an active role in its merger and acquisition activities. Most notably he played pivotal roles in the recent management buy out from Royal Philips Electronics and the recapitalization of the company with an injection of $18.5 million including significant funding from ACT Venture Capital. This funding is being used to accelerate S3 Group's development of highly valuable technology in its target markets and expand S3 Group's business into the USA and Asia.  

Cathal is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) from University College Dublin.
