Green energy initiatives in the US, EU and Asia require Broadcasters to reduce the power consumption of simple and complex Set-Top Boxes (STBs).  

By 2009, indicative performance requirements will be approximately 8W and 15W respectively in Active Standby Mode. In contrast, current generations of STBs have increasing power requirements to support HD, PVR etc.
