| The Solution | S3 Group was contracted to assist in specifying a reference STB that could prove that all features of the current generation PVR could be made available on two TVs simultaneously using just a single STB. S3 Group then proceeded to the next step and produced a full reference design implementation which meant the operator and middleware and CA providers could prove the solution before engaging an OEM for mass production. |
| The Outcome | Once the product was approved by marketing, who used the reference implementation to work through all user scenarios, the Operator provided the reference implementation to the chosen OEM partners to develop a production version in volume. The investment by the Operator in the S3 Group proof-of-concept ensured that there was very little feature change during the production development resulting in a faster time-to-market and a higher quality product. |
