S3 Group’s client was embarking on a complete Set-Top Box (STB) architecture redesign. As part of this design a component based middleware approach was chosen. A key goal of the operator was to maintain independence of the third party providers and retain the ability to source multiple suppliers of the system components. |

| The Solution |
S3 Group was chosen to act on the operators behalf as the System Integrator with a large team carrying out the following roles:
- Requirements development
- Component in-take review
- Test Identification and development
- Test execution
A further key goal was to provide a test automation solution and this was built into the process with an automated test lab solution. |
| The Outcome |
The S3 Group team succeeded in meeting the customer key goals for the program while also producing tools, processes and a way of working to allow the clients own team to take on increased responsibility for the system integration. |
