Post-merger STB consolidation
The Problem A new Pay TV operation was formed through the merger of two existing players, leaving 600K legacy STBs in the field with different software on multiple hardware variants.

The Solution S3 Group was contracted to develop common driver software for all platforms, to integrate, test and certify all platforms in preparation for an over-the-air download to bring all the boxes to a common software platform branded as the platform for launch of the new operator service.
The Outcome All products were successfully upgraded within a very tight timeframe dictated by the business case which was driven by the start of the football season. S3 Group continued a multi-year relationship with the operator to maintain the products in the field following product launch, thus adopting the role of the OEM for the operator.
