Challenge

There are many reasons why digital TV receiver devices such as Set-Top Boxes (STBs) are returned from the field. Sometimes, they are flagged faulty by end users − which may or may not prove to be accurate, or are returned through service termination or system upgrade.

Whatever the reason, the challenge for operators is to accurately and cost efficiently screen these returning devices to ensure that they are tested thoroughly and that any underlying fault is detected and fixed prior to re-issue of units to the field.

Our Solution

StormTest Decision Line is an automated test solution for screening digital TV devices as they come back from the field. StormTest Decision Line is capable of achieving 16 times the volume of testing with half as many operators compared with manual testing, but most importantly it provides a reliable and repeatable method of determining consumer device quality. For the first time, intelligent automated decisions about devices can be made since real, qualified information is available and collected in the one place.
