SI Management
For S3 Group’s cable and satellite operator clients S3 Group provides everything from the full responsibility for the entire SI activities through to management of specific elements of the integration such as the architecture overview of a program, the integration activities for a particular portion of the program, the management of a particular manufacturer or feature or specific testing services.
The following elements form part of S3 Group’s complete System Integration management offering:
- Requirements and Planning – this entails all of the activities needed to produce an initial system integration plan and high level requirements specification.
- Project Management and Set-Top Box (STB) Architecture - if required
- Configuration and Build Management – this involves configuration management, intake of software components from suppliers, the generation of full system and utility builds, release and baseline management and sanity testing of builds produced
- Common STB Component Integration – this includes all STB integration activities related to the management of the integration of common software components and STB drivers into the overall build
- System Testing – this covers the specification of system and acceptance tests and the set up and maintenance of all test equipment and environments needed for testing. It also covers the system testing of all common software components on reference STB platforms if required as well as full user-level functionality testing. S3 Group’s testing is also carried out in real network environments where the test procedures followed are similar to those used during system test, but conducted in a formal manner on candidate releases
- Field Trial Support – S3 Group’s system integration teams provide support during field trials of each product in the live network. Field trials are carried out in an uncontrolled environment, by non-technical users, simulating real usage scenarios.
